WHAT'S IN A NAME?

A DASK is a movement! It's a slap to the established and traditional perception of what photographic art is and what it can do.

WHAT DOES DASK WANT?

DASK wants to open your eyes to photographic art, and the new photographic opportunities in the arts - both in the private space and in the office. Our ambition is to get art photography into as many homes and businesses as possible, thus opening the door for exceptional photo art to be integrated into our daily lives.

The gallery works with both emerging Danish and international artists. Our mission is to continuosly present a range of ambitious international shows. We strive to create a dynamic scene for photographic art in Denmark.

WHAT DOES DASK ART COST?

It is important for DASK to represent photo art as broadly as possible, and this also applies to price.

DASK PHOTOGRAPHERS

At DASK we exhibit and sell photographic art by famous artists as well as unknown up-and-coming photographers. Our focus is on talent regardless of genre: images of humor, elegance, ugliness, thoughtfulness, spontaneity, color, wildness or calm. DASK takes on images and photographers representing the art of photography as broadly as possible with motifs ranging from sausages to skylines. DASK is open to all genres, with plenty of room for experimentation.

Currently DASK cooperates with more than 20 Danish and international photographers, amongst others; Erik Refner, Linda Hansen, Paul Cunningham, Casper Balslev, Mie Jensen, Melanie Magassa, Lars Bech, and Henrik Bülow.

All of DASK's limited editions are numbered and signed by the photographer. All works are certified thus guaranteeing that no additional copies of the photograph will be produced.

So far, DASK has about 150 works in its collection. DASK aims to change exhibitions four to six times a year.

DASK photos are produced with the Lamda printing technique, which makes it possible to produce works of virtually all sizes and formats.

DASK is always open to suggestions regarding new exhibitions, themes or motifs, and can create original editions on order. For example, DASK can curate and deliver original and custom photographic interpretations of your company's production, product, method or belief, for permanent exhibition in company hallways or meeting rooms.

WHERE IS DASK?

DASK is located at Flæsketorvet 24 and was the third gallery to open in Kødbyen (view map here). The walls are not big enough to display our large collection and therefore we have a catalogue in the gallery in which you can browse the DASK selection in its entirety.

WHO PULLS THE STRINGS AT DASK?

The central figures behind DASK are Ulrik Jantzen, Michael Eis and Cecilie Bepler. DASK is owned by Ulrik Jantzen and Michael Eis.

Ulrik Jantzen is the one half of the photo agency DAS BÜRO, which provides both editorial, and commercial images as well as visual identity for a number of significant Danish companies and media.

As a photographer Ulrik has won both international and Danish prizes for his work, and is known for his strong opinions and views on photography as an art form.

Michael Eis is a great art and photography lover, but may be best described as an entrepreneur. Michael comes from the banking world but has spent the last 15 years establishing and running Internet stores.

Cecilie Bepler is the project manager at DASK. Cecilie has previously worked at one of Denmark's largest art institutions Museet for Fotokunst and Kunsthallen Brandts as well as the Art Museum of Funen in Odense. She also works as a freelance curator and art critic.
